Unit 4 Art Making and Exhibiting
Crewe continues her exploration of the concept of hidden problems of a broken home from Unit 3 by thinking about how she could expand upon her subject matter, style and aesthetic qualities such as a dining table with the influences that have impacted the parents’ life ultimately becoming the source of their messed-up childhood. She had decided to create another installation as she wanted to text her technical expertise and felt that an installation was the best artform to communicate her ideas of what the perspective of how the children within these homes and the trauma and abuse they are exposed to and taught become their understanding of a normal household dynamic. Having an interactive installation piece, Crewe is allowing the viewers to be participative with the artwork and sitting at the kids table, to see and experience first-hand what these children are taught and experience. This installation bluntly displays some of the largest problems that have a direct impact on these children’s lives. Crewe was pleased with the outcome of the artwork as she feels the message has been effectively communicated the viewer and opening their eyes to a serious problem that is wildly untouched topic.
