Surf Storage Rack

Unit 3 and 4 Product Design and Technology

I designed and constructed the surf rack to cater to surfers who value both practicality and coastal-inspired design. The product combines functional storage with refined aesthetics, using 18mm red oak plywood for durability, warmth, and natural appeal. A hand-applied beeswax finish enhances the wood’s texture while offering protection and sustainability. EPDM rubber matting has been integrated across all contact points to prevent damage and provide a secure grip ensuring the safety of the boards. The surf rack includes vertical storage for surf boards and wetsuits as well as a base compartment storge space for extra accessories. Designed for compact spaces such as garages or apartments, it reflects a minimalist approach that celebrates surf culture through simplicity and craftsmanship. The Surf Rack represents a balance between functionality, sustainability, and visual quality, appealing to surfers seeking a stylish yet practical storage solution for their equipment.
